With a deep love for yellow and all things transportation, we were tasked to create a bright and charming room design for two sweet brothers. We honed in on a rich colour palette and eclectic pattern mixing to bring lots of personality to the space—what’s not to love about this cheerful bedroom?!
The jumping off point for this room design was the existing yellow drapes, which helped us establish our rich and cozy colour palette. I knew I wanted yellow to act a supporting colour, so we sourced a blue nature-inspired wallpaper and paired it with a plush geometric rug to anchor the space and bring an eclectic feel to the room. With pattern on both the accent wall and rug, we opted for solid bedding and textiles to balance everything out—we paired a french blue sheet set with a darker chambray duvet cover and buttery yellow throw blanket for a simple layered look. An oversized light fixture draws the eye up and accentuates the tall ceilings, too.
From a functional standpoint, we didn't require a dresser as we installed a new wardrobe system inside the closet. Instead, we opted for a bean bag near the window and a tall bookcase to house books and a few favourite toy collections for quiet play before bedtime. We designed a new playroom directly next door (be sure to check it out), so for their bedroom, we focused on creating a comfortable and cozy space to help ease the transition from toddler beds to twin-sized beds. To ensure the room design perfectly reflected their personalities, we incorporated truck and spaceship art prints that coordinate effortlessly with the colour palette. The end result is an inviting room filled with nostalgia, wonder and charm!
“Rebecca, thank you for making our home feel like a cozy and comforting oasis. The whole top floor now feels so happy, thanks to you. We are so grateful to you!”
