It isn’t every day that you get to transform a dated bedroom into a magical haven for your clients’ grandchildren. I was asked to create a space where little ones could sleep and play when coming over to grandma and grandpa’s house; which may or may not be the coolest project i’ve worked on to date. We started with a nature-inspired colour palette with sage greens, soft blues and whitewashed wood tones. I wanted the room to feel like the great outdoors or like a tree house perched up in the sky, and I think we achieved just that!

Functionality was key when it came to planning out this space. In addition to a spectacular 17 foot built-in with endless storage, a bunk bed with stairs and a slide, we also accounted for several other designated zones within the room. We added an acrylic crib for nap time, re-purposed a vintage blue plaid armchair and added an activity table with the sweetest bambi stools. We even had room for a kid’s couch and a wooden play kitchen, too! There is no shortage of fun to explore in this space.

The room was calling for some dramatic window coverings and I just love how the plaid drapery fabric works with the green etched landscape wallpaper. We carried bold patterns throughout the rest of the room by integrating striped bed linens and floral pillow cases for a playful touch. The crib textiles, garland and infant toys, gifted from Mushie, coordinate beautifully with the room design; hello perfect match! And with nearly 11 foot ceilings, the room was calling for a grand light fixture; this ivory beaded chandelier adds so much texture and impact.

Every detail and accessory was thoughtfully sourced to create a unique and adventurous environment! The finished space conveys such a wondrous feeling and I am so proud with how it came to life.
