My mini client requested a colourful room, so we went all in with deep blue, forest green and bright yellow accents. To balance things out, I selected neutral key pieces that would build a timeless foundation; like an etched landscape wallpaper, oak spindle bed, textured ivory rug and sleek cordless roman shades. These elements will stand the test of time, even when yellow may no longer be his favourite colour!
We also gave the existing millwork a little makeover by lowering the window bench height to accommodate a custom bench cushion and removed some of the cabinet doors to offer up some open storage space. A fresh coat of paint and new hardware completed the transformation! I restyled and organized the built-ins with everything an 8-year-old collects; like harry potter books, transformers, trophies and cars.
We added a corduroy bean bag for hanging out with friends and hung a wooden basketball hoop to keep this wild sports fan busy! The end result is a simple room design loaded with fun and function.
