When a little girl loves all things Frozen, you give her a shimmery blue & ivory bedroom she can grow into over the years. From the iridescent wallpaper, to the table lamp and mirror that are giving major ice castle vibes, to the brass star ceiling light and blue accents throughout, we did the opposite of a themed room and focused on including subtle touches that convey that iconic whimsical ‘Disney feeling’ instead. This room works perfectly for a 4 year old, but will work equally as well when she’s 10 — and that’s the power of smart planning and thoughtful design.

The jumping off point for the entire design was definitely the poppy wallpaper, which we wrapped around 3 walls in the room. We layered in a mix of white, rattan, brass, acrylic and light wood tone furnishings to bring an elevated approach to the room. I wanted to play up various tones of blues through the textiles, so sourced a blue floral printed rug, a collection of denim floral and fun-shaped cushions and a block print quilt that drapes over the pink duvet cover beautifully. You all know I can’t get enough of playing around with patterns, and my absolute favourite part of this room is the sweet moment above the bed — the way the cat trophy head from France layers on top the wallpaper is something else…

Since we had lots of square footage to work with, we decided to repurpose an existing kid’s sofa to create a little sitting area and tuck a wood desk with an oversized magnetic board in the nook near the window! It’s the perfect spot for drawing right now and will transition into a functional homework spot over the next few years. We didn’t require a dresser since the room has a wonderful walk-in closet, so we opted for an open bookcase to provide lots of space for books, toys and collectibles. Plus, we utilized a beautiful acrylic house-shaped bookcase my client already had and paired it with a woven doll pram and stunning feature mirror to encourage imaginative play!

I truly can’t get enough of this room’s transformation — what first started out as a dark and dated guest room, is now whimsical and oh so unique. Be be sure to check out the before & after photos and a full video room tour on IG!
